Re: Starting to worry!
For what it is worth~ I spoke with someone on the island today to make reservations for the water taxi and he said, "FINALLY< The bugs have really died down this week!" Well, no guarantees of course as it changes day to day BUT it is a heading in a good direction. I do not know how he gets his ...

Re: Hidden Lake to Rock Harbor on foot
Eric,
That is not a bad thought but.....a hard one I think to coordinate esp. at this late date. PLUS....we are needing a pick up rather than a drop off which is even harder to coordinate with others you have never met. LOL. No worries however, although it is a steep fare I agree, with the 4 of us ...

Re: Hidden Lake to Rock Harbor on foot
Thanks Inca, Great info. and here is what I did with it! :D
I called and made a reservation for a pick up at 3:00 at Hidden Lake Dock. There is room for two more if anyone is interested and it would take the costs down some as well. The route from lane Cove to the pickup site is.....I think....7.5 ...

Hidden Lake to Rock Harbor on foot
Well,
I guess it was good that I decided to do a more detailed look at my itinerary because....I am thinking there is no way to go from Lane Cove, up to the Greenstone and head east to Hidden Lake and then down to Rock Harbor....because we would have to swim then? ha ha....perhaps I am missing ...

Re: lockers at Rock Harbor?
well, I have no intentions of leaving anything anywhere other than the store however, I am not convinced that spending $24 bucks to have a clean change of clothes is worth it somehow. I think I may just try and wash out something the night before, Ha Ha....however, we do have 4 in our party. Could I ...

Re: Starting to worry!
We will be there at the same time as you, AND I am from the UP myself and have never seen the bugs this bad before. I had hoped they would be done by August but I am not so sure this year. I can't NOT go....so I am planning on wearing long sleeves, long pants and bring a bug net and then hope for ...

lockers at Rock Harbor?
HI all, less than 2 weeks now, Yippee
I read somewhere, but can't find it now, that there are lockers at Rock Harbor. I am considering leaving some clothes there for the end of the trip. Does anyone know where they are? How big? and how much? Also, if one plans to use one, is there any problems ...

Re: Please advise on route for first timers.
Thanks Jerry....here is MY math....which I flunked over and over again. ha ha
w. chickenbone to hatchet lake 7.9
hatchet lake to Todd Harbor 3.9
total: 11.8
Am I right? Am I missing anything? 11.8 is pushing it for me really, but I am hoping it isn't too strenuous. AND I am hoping my NEW math is ...

Re: Please advise on route for first timers.
Hello all, Another question....about my Chickenbone West to Todd Harbor leg. It looks like there was a typo (and/or I goofed up LOL) whichever....I read on the chart I downloaded that it was 1.4 miles from Hatchet Lake to Todd Harbor....this was a Camprground to campground chart. I think it is ...

Re: My packing list & weights
OK, I have NEVER bothered with my pack weights before but am rather anxious about them at this point as I am not in as good a shape for this up coming Isle Royale trip as I have been in the past. Plus, it has been at least 5 years since my last long trip. SO.......I am all of a sudden quite taken ...
