Re: Photos from October 2012

just realized the flickr album isn't complete. Will be updating that over the next few weeks as I dig through my files for the latest versions of those other days. Until then, I guess the original link posted at the top is where everything is located. Real reason I came to the site is to find out if ...

Re: Deep Zoom Panorama Moskey Basin, Oct 3 2012

Must be a Windows 8 thing - on XP, Win7 and Server 2008 R2, I can use Chrome to see the panoramas on Photosynth.net and my own server (they use slightly different technology, but still Silverlight). I don't use Firefox for many reasons, so no idea. Definitely works in IE on those three operating ...

Re: Deep Zoom Panorama Moskey Basin, Oct 3 2012

These panoramas need the Silverlight plugin to be viewed. Should otherwise really be browser-independent. Should even work on a Mac if you install Silverlight. Not on iPad or other crippled operating systems. There are Flash versions of this technology, but they don't work as well, nor do I have a ...

Photos from October 2012

Finally got around to sorting through the images from last year. Last boat to the island, and the weather turned bad accordingly. My knee also acted up, so instead of doing a full loop hike around the island, I only crossed over to McCargo and then when the rain ended, hiked back to Threemile. Didn ...

I think this is the last one - 10-photo stitch of the view from a rock just north of Threemile. Bored, waiting for the boat...

Re: Deep Zoom Panorama Moskey Basin, Oct 3 2012

Another Threemile Sunset - this one later than the first, and I used JPEG source files, so ICE didn't mess up the saturation/white balance. This is the way the light really was, not as purple as the other one.

I think this rock formation is called Sleeping Giant - east of Thunder Bay, seen from the Greenstone with a 300mm lens, 4 image stitch

Another one - looking west across the island, with Angleworm Lake on the left and Sargent Lake on the right. October 7 2012, the only nice weather day we had after Oct 3.

This was done handheld, so a little up and down stepping between frames, but hey...

Re: Deep Zoom Panorama Moskey Basin, Oct 3 2012

Love 'em. I just stitch with my Canon software, but do like what Photosynth will do. I think we should come up with a name for the 'flat top' birch grove at McCargoe Cove. (About 1 O'clock in your McCargoe photo.) Every time I visit it always draws my eye (It's so even and flat!) and I keep ...

Re: Deep Zoom Panorama Moskey Basin, Oct 3 2012

The ceiling in a cabin at McCargo Bay (#8? it was pretty high up near the trail to the Minong). Stared at that for a few days during bad weather, so I got bored. This is hosted on my server, since Photosynth can't handle these "planar" panoramas: 180 megapixels - keep on zooming down to the wood ...

And from the same day, a panorama at McCargo Bay - 109 megapixels, pretty fall colors before the wind blew all the leaves away:

Deep Zoom Panorama Moskey Basin, Oct 3 2012

Took this pano after my first night on the island last October. Am just now getting around to working on the photos I took. Probably a few more panoramas like this one to come.

Re: Bug Situation

I guess I learned something new today. Around here in the south of Wisconsin, you dont' take ticks very lightly - prime area to catch some lyme disease.
