Thanks for that info Hooky and Tom ! That interagency pass looks like one heck of a deal. I never even had a clue such a thing existed .
Just a clarification if I may ask. Forest service= National Forest??? Would such a pass be available at any local Federal office?

That sounds like an interesting seminar. The life of the rangers on the isle is interesting. I always enjoy talking to them.

Donk 67....you are spot in with this assessment! After many family gatherings It is all Tim wants to talk about! When we ask if he wants to go back .........his answer is simply no thanks ....but it sure was fun! Zack doesn't really talk about it. Madeline, well she will follow Daddy an any of his ...

In my opinion you have some long days in there for a little one....but it looks like you have a day or 2 to play with. Between w ckn bn and hatchet ...water up when you can there is a nice stream in there. The switchbacks are kinda cool when climbing the ridge! This stretch also has some beautiful ...

Re: Stream Crossing just before Little Todd (heading West)
I have posted this on my minong trip report ...but they work too good not to mention them again....home built ultra light waders were my solution ....they make getting water easier too
There are commercially manufactured ones as well....if you search the web

We were there 2 yrs ago , about that time too. The water was just below knee deep .....I have a few pics but cant seem to find them at the moment. We went up stream a little, the footing seemed better.

Re: Swimmer's Itch
I have had it twice in Lake Superior. The first time was in the Apostle Islands.I was snorkeling in the shallows looking at rocks.I had it head to toe! I had no Idea what it even was! I almost went insane! The second time was out on Grand Island, in cobble cove! I was lubed up with sunscreen....it ...

Re: HiKing the Greenstone with a 4 and 9 year old
Hey there! I haven't been around much lately, but I saw this and thought I would throw in my 2¢ :)
IMHO the 9 yr old will likely not have any issues with the Greenstone. They both sound like real go-getters! With my experience with my Daughter on the island...(she did the Minong at 5) she came out ...

Re: TR: (Hiking) 6-6 to 6-14 2015 Windigo to Daisey via Malone to Chippewa bushwack
Well I will wrap this up! This day is is a sad one for me. I was informed by my crew, except Madeline. This would be their last trip to the island. The boys had enough! Dad said it was just getting too difficult at his age. I could totally understand everybodies points. It was sad knowing it was the ...
