Re: cell phones
I have Sprint and my phone showed "International" when I was in Copper Harbor and at the lookout tower on Greenstone. We were there in June. I did not make a call, fearing the rates would be astronomical. I had no plans on bringing my phone, but by habit, put it in my pocket before boarding the boat ...

Re: A few miscellaneous questions.....
I never thought about stashing a change of clothes at RH. Are there still showers at RH and if so, what is the cost?

Hanging food at campsites?
Three and a half weeks till we are on IR.
One of our group posed the question "Do we need to hang our food at night, because of the animals?"
I thought I would ask. Do we need to hang our food at night because of the foxes on the island? If so, any suggestions?

June hiking route 6/22 - 6/26
It has been a long time since I have been to IR and never came in at Rock harbor. We are planning our trip and so far have come up with this. All three of us are hikers and do hike fairly regularly. Is this doable? We will be arriving in Rock Harbor via the IR Queen from Copper Harbor. Monday ...

Re: Water filter recommendation?
I have looked at some more water filters/purifiers and am trying to figure out what the main differences are between the MSR Sweetwater and MSR MiniWorks.
Can someone help me out?

Re: Water filter recommendation?
Thanks for the replies. I went to look at some filters at REI today and they currently did not have the MSR in stock or on display. I did check out the Katadyn Hiker Pro and liked how that one pumped. I have looked on-line at the MSR but want to see one in person first. Do you pump the MSR while ...

Water filter recommendation?
I have read many past posts and must say, thanks for all the ideas on a water filter. I am new to these forums and have really enjoyed reading all the posts. I have hiked IR before, but it was back in 1990 and 1985. Now my question. We are headed to IR in June for a 5 day trip and I need to get a ...
