Re: Recent video of Isle Royale trip/conditions

Nice. We will be there next week. The forecast is cloudy but I'm hoping for at least some sun while we are there.

Marking Posts as Read

I don't have the time to read every new post but I'd like to see what is new since the last time I visited so I'm wondering how do I mark all posts as read? Most forums can do this but I don't see an obvious way to do this here.

Re: Best Campsite for Sunrise

Thanks guys... on our trip next month we will be spending our first evening and last evening in Moskey so my niece has a double chance at getting a decent sun rise. Now I just hope that we get to see a moose for her sake also. I've discovered in planning this trip that 5 days (2 half days and 3 full ...

Re: Where to see a Moose?

Thanks everyone for all the information. I'm not sure yet of our itinerary other than at least one night at Moskey Basin (hoping for a nice sunrise). I will look on the map to find Washington Creek and see if we can plan around being near there some evening or morning.

Re: Share water taxi to Moskey Basin August 18, 2021?

I was coming here to these forums to ask this exact thing about getting a water taxi from RH to Moskey but I have no idea where to start looking for this. Where/where would I call?

Where to see a Moose?

We will be on IR the first week of August and my niece who is coming from TN really really wants to see a moose. Are there a couple of known good places to spot one? The last time I was there I was there for 7 days and never saw a moose until the very last night when a cow and her calf walked ...

Re: Ticks on the island

On my way in August and this thread is old and things change so I'm wondering if it's still true that ticks are not on the island?

Best Campsite for Sunrise

In a couple of months I'll be on Isle Royale with my brother and his daughter. She really wants to camp at least one night where there will be a good of the sunrise in the morning (assuming no clouds of course). When I was there in 2014 I did Lanes Cove, Daisy Farm, Moskey Basin, and Chippewa Harbor ...

Re: Water filter

Gravity filters are so very, very worth it. I have a Platypus GravityWorks and even bring it with me on solo trips. I have never considered gravity filters. I know that a lot of people love them but usually when I want water I'm on the move and don't want to take the time. But this trip will be ...

Re: Water filter

I appreciate the fast response and the link. Filter it is then.... a squeeze or pump?? I have time to decide.

Re: Water filter

I apologize for digging up an old thread but I didn't want to start new one on the same topic. I did a 7/8 day trip on the island back 2014. This year I plan returning. When has not been determined yet. However, I'm wondering about using my Steripen for inland lakes. It seems a few years ago I read ...

Re: Water Treatment

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I really do appreciate it. Correct me if I'm wrong but it appears that even if I use a sawyer squeeze which is .1 micron I'm still suppose to use uv/chemical also? Why will filtered water also need chemical or uv?

Water Treatment

If this needs to be moved you won't hurt my feelings or if the topic is covered elsewhere just show me. Thanks :) When I was on the Island in 2014 and went through the ranger "indoctrination" on the peer I could have sworn he said that your filter should be smaller than .2 micro if you're taking ...
