Re: South Shore campsite choices?
A few hundred yards after the Head there is a strip of flat ground just inside the treeline. Do hook around the point at Long Point. Used to be a fish camp there. Spend some time exploring a couple of falling down camps. There are places to tent, just a nice spot. You might even find some moose ...

Re: 2024 trip- Wolves
About bicycles. Last june took the ranger to windigo. Paddled the north side. Got to rock harbor and next to the public canoe/kayak was a bick rack. There was a mountain bike in it. Went back the end of August, the bike was gone but the bike rack was still there. Non wilderness areas can have wheels ...

Re: Crazy Idea to Circumnavigate the Island?
Since the voyageur will drop a food box at any dock it stops at, food is easy to set up. The only thing is fuel. Taking enough for a month . Maybe you could talk the rangers out of some at rock harbor. Twig stove is another option. Great way to go around the island though.

Re: Passage Island Kayak Crossing
Hi, a few years back on one of my trips around the island I did the light house tour. Went to all 4. Stayed at merritt lane when I went to passage. I think it is closer to 4 miles, took me a hour to paddle out to passage. Do not remember any current to speak of. The freighters were my concern. They ...

I paddled the Keweenaw Water Trail the end of june. Spent 14 days on the trip. You could do it quicker but I was not in a hurry. I got there map and stayed on state land, primitive camping. Went out to Manitou Island and stayed for 3 nights. It is 3 miles out to the island, the map talks about a ...
