Re: 2013 Trip Log - Add your planned itinerary here!
I am going on the Queen .
I know it going to be a long day 1.
My pack is 36 lbs DRY .
No final weight yet I will post at time of final packing.
I do love Hatchet Lake and the only way to see it is long hikes.
From the east end of the island and a short 4-5 days I need to log
miles everyday.

Re: Thunderstorms
Yes I have been in storms a few times.
Hiked the Minong in the early 2000 and had a choice at the end.
Go to Windigo or HC.
I decided on HC for the night.
Bad storms came rolling in , 12 Hours none stop.
Some of the most intense rain I have ever seen.
I weather radio would have helped for sure .

Re: Packing your pack, suggestions?
I agree with fonixmunkee post but there are more reasons not to put anything on the outside of your pack.
I have found lots of items on the trail, lost from the outside of a packs thay include .
Tents,traps, sleeping bags,sleeping pads etc.
Losing one of these items can make for a bad trip.

With some mayo on top.
2. Break out the stove and have roman noodle and a pita.

Re: Sleeping gear in late August
I agree with KEWEENAW.
Go with a warmer bag and just unzip if needed.
I spent a week on IR in the 70"s with one of those new Space Age Blankets.
A big mistake froze the whole trip.
Current bag is a REI Sub Kilo.
