What are you spending your REI dividend on? 2013 edition

Post by fonixmunkee »

Well, it's only a month now until the shiny envelope with the REI board members ballot and dividend check arrives. What are you spending yours on (and hopefully the accompanying 20% off coupon)?

For me, the Petzl Nao headlamp that I wanted last year wasn't released on time, so I'm hoping to get it this year with my dividend. What about everyone else?

I've been eyeing up the Peak Designs Camera Capture Clip, for carrying a DSLR on a pack or belt. I figure with 20% off plus a little dividend, the price is much better than elsewhere.

(Hope it comes back in stock; the Bloomington MN store just started carrying them a little while ago...)

I need 2 more items for my complete overhaul - Expend UL7 sleeping pad and a Kelty Salida 2 tent. Problem is I buy 90% of my REI items on clearance, so my dividend is usually quite pathetic....

Love the Exped UL7. Consider the Schnozzel Pumpbag to go with it if you really want to splurge (works great and I pack clothes in it).

Fonix, I've been thinking about the Petzl Nao as well. That dividend will make it a lot easier. I bet we could see each other's glow from opposite ends of the island with those on. :P

After my girlfriend and I each used our 20% off coupons on new Osprey packs, we are putting our dividend check toward the MSR Windpro II stove. We want something that has more stability and doesn't blow over with a little wind. I'll sacrifice a little less weight over having that along with more versatility in cooking.

I used my 20% off and my dividend to soften the blow of the Big Agnes Copper Spur 2 tent.

I used mine for an Osprey Xenith pack. It is a nice upgrade from the old Kelty external frame that I took with me on my LAST trip to IR 16 years ago.

thanks for turning me onto these shoes! I just got mine today.

Though not from REI. I got them for $59 shipped from O2gear which is significantly less than the 20% off from REI.

I dropped into an R.E.I. store recently and couldn't find anything I really needed to spend my small dividend on. I need more time to do stuff, not more stuff to do it with.

I bundled the 2011 and 2012 dividends and bought a Half Dome 2 tent. Light and big enough for me and my eldest (who's taller than me).

That is cool. I didn't know they would let you bundle dividends together like that.
