Labor Day Trip - a few questions

Greetings - first post.

My dad and I are heading to ISRO on the Friday before Labor Day - staying until Tuesday. Have a few questions.

Our plan is to take the plane over Friday to RH. Staying Friday night in the Lodge. Plan to hike out to scoville point and maybe rent kayaks to explore.

Original plan was to water taxi to hidden lake dock and spend the next night in Lane Cove. Followed by Daisy Farm, Three Mile, back to RH on Tuesday for the return flight.

I spoke with a friend who was just on the Island and mentioned that Lane Cove wasn't too special and the bugs were terrible. Will that still be a problem over Labor Day? If so, is it possible to get all the way to McCargo Cove if we water taxi to Daisy? If not - what are some good alternatives?

We are both in great shape and while I havent backpacked for a number of years, feel confident. Open to all help and suggestions!!

I would call the lodge and ask about availability of a water taxi. A couple of weeks ago, I was told that they couldn't help me the following weekend as they were shutting them down for the season after Labor Day.

Assuming they're running, 2 people to Mcargoe is $364 according to the rates on the website.

I am not looking to take the water taxi the whole way - basically is it worth taking some of the distance off - maybe Daisy Farm?

I know it is available, we are using it on Saturday and we have it reserved for our existing reservation to Hidden Lake Dock.

What about Chippewa Harbor?

I think your original plan is fine. As for Lane Cove, the hike in/out is steep, but personally I think it's a beautiful spot even though I've only been through there paddling. Bugs shouldn't be terrible by now (but no guarantee of course).

If you're involving the water taxi one way or the other, the other thing I'd consider would be to take it Chippewa Harbor, then work your back to R.H. Something like:
Fri. Fly in, water taxi to Chippewa.
Sat. Moskey Basin (almost universal favorite)
Sun. Daisy Farm or Three Mile
Mon. Rock Harbor and explore at the end instead
