Headed for the Island again for a hike starting next Saturday. I am wondering if the beginning/start of Washington Creek on the N Desor to Windigo section will have water this time of year. I've read this is appx 6 miles past N Desor towards Windigo.
I'd like to skip Desor for camping and would need water somewhere on this section. Thanks for any input you may have.

Re: Question about Minong
On the Minong from Washington Creek to the NLD intersection you will be crossing the headwaters of Washington Creek on some beaver dams. There should be water available in the impoundments behind the beaver dams. You will need to be creative in getting to the water.
After these impoundments, there will be no access to water until you get to the NLD intersection, which would mean that you would have to hike down to NLD, load up, scramble back up to the Minong and continue to Little Todd.

Re: Question about Minong
My memory of the Minong may be faulty, but I recall a water source at the six mile (roughly half way) point on the trail, from the not-so-cleverly-named Six Mile Creek. I also believe there is relatively easy access to Washington Creek without having to mess with Beaver impoundments. This access may be too close to Windigo to be of much help

Re: Question about Minong
There is a ton of information on the Minong on the Board. Here is my June 2014 Minong trip report: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=2573
There are other trip reports I found useful predating that one. Note that most reports are from trips going the opposite direction you are taking.
