That is great news! It's about time they recognize the importance of the island to the economy.

This is good to know - we are trying to decide about staying the the hotel or the campground the night before. Anybody have any feedback on which is more convenient for the early morning ferry? I was leaning toward the campground, but wondered it putting down the tent and getting everything re-packed might be more hassle and warrant a hotel stay. Especially if it is wet. It sounds like the campground is near the ferry. Is that correct? Is one more convenient for parking?

The campground is right next to the G.P. Lodge & Casino, so no difference in location. Both are 5 mins from the boat. The campground isn't anything special, just a place to pitch a tent, probably next to a camper. My preference is a room, especially after the time we had downpours overnight, but it's really whatever you prefer. A nice campground is at Judge Magney S.P., but it's about 1/2 hr away.

Hello
I choose a room for the night before. We grab supper on the way and when we get there we go thru our packs again and enjoy a hot shower with a drink and wake up refreshed. Ingo is right every year it rains!!! I don't want my initial backpackin gear to get wet right off the bat. Enjoy your choice
