I'll second Suomi Cafe for breakfast in Houghton. I actually used to work there when I was a starving student at MTU. If you have time, the Kaleva Cafe in downtown Hancock is great as well. If you're looking for lunch or dinner in Houghton, The Ambassador has great subs and pizza. If you have more time and want a little nicer dinner the Pilgrim River Steakhouse towards Chassell has good lake Trout (so does Quincy's in Dollar Bay).

In Copper Harbor I recommend the Tamarack Inn for a great breakfast. If you've had a shower ;>) you can get a great dinner at Harbor Haus before you head home.

It has been a whiel since we went through CH. Not sure if you can still get them, Reds Cinamon Rolls at the Pines were always a favorite.

Speaking of cinnamon rolls, just this past week I was introduced to the Cinnamon Delights at Taco Bell. I've never been a big fan of Taco Bell but these things cause me to imagine the cravings a crack addict must experience. Houghton now has a Taco Bell so I guess I'm still on topic.

Don't forget the most famous sweet rolls are at the Hilltop just outside L'Anse. You can pick up on the way to the boat. Go to SweetRoll.com

Are the breakfast places in CH open early enough to get breakfast before you have to get to the dock?

Darn, my only breakfast in Houghton has been the continental breakfast at the hotel.

The Pines opens at 6:30 am in the summer, 7:30 am in winter. The Tamarack is closed during the winter but I'm sure their summer schedule also accommodates Queen passengers.

The Hillside in Houghton. Small seating on main drag half way up the hill on the right. Has the best stick to the ribs breakfast for good price.
and for the nervous fellow wanting to get across bridge.... in case it is lifted/stuck and can't lower for traffic for hours.... the Kaleva in Hanncock.
