Number of tents per site
I'm traveling with a group of six ladies backcountry camping for one night. Is there a limit on the number of tents per site? We want to use three...

I believe you could pitch 6 tents/hammocks if needed.
"And standing on the the crest of the Greenstone Ridge, I suddenly had this desire to retreat north to where I just come, to stay in the backcountry, to spend another day in a place where the only deadline I had was to pitch the tent before dark."

Re: Number of tents per site
Is your group a total of 6? It sounds like it is only 6 but just checking to make sure as otherwise you would be classified as a group and additional restrictions apply. The NPS does not require people buddy-up in tents but some campground tent sites would be hard pressed to provide 6 flat/comfortable areas. Your total of 3 is no problem. Actually, the Ranger that checks people in will sometimes do a check to make sure your party has enough tents.
