- The "Isle Royale Wolves EIS Public Scoping Newsletter" has the latest proposals, basically just taking culling off the list of options. It is open for public comment for 60 days. A decision is not expected for at least another 18 months ("Fall/Winter 2017").
- The "All Public Scoping Comments" document are comments from last summer. Note that it's a 1117 page document and you need to know (or infer) the questions asked--see next document. If you're interested in my comments, search for 2460 (correspondence ID) .
- The "Public Scoping Newsletter" link has the questions asked for public comment last summer.

I read your comments with interest. When I posted mine early (I was #131) I had no idea nearly 3000 comments would be received. It would be interesting to know how many unique people there were.

Regarding the potentiality of moose hunting on IR, a parallel circumstance has arisen in Grand Canyon NP. The NP system is presently taking comments on the direct question of their consideration of hunting due to the the large numbers of Bison present in the park. I definitely do not favor hunting in a national park or a wilderness area as there are clearly "more natural" and "less trammeling" methods but the Grand Canyon situation is both interesting and potentially "shades of things to come" for IRNP.

I don't want to delve into United Nation designations that no U.S. Federal or State Legislatures have ever voted for lest this discussion become overly political, but as another example of contradictions, the UN has also designation The Great Smokey Mountain NP an International Biosphere Reserve yet the Department of Interior has been setting controlled burns.

Hunting would be a violation against the ethos guiding Isle Royale. Nature comes first with minimal interference from humans. An introduction of wolves by humans, in my opinion, would not be a violation since the warming climate will prevent ice bridge passage by wolves. There is nothing natural about climate change.

The study of the ecosystem would be destroyed by hunters, as would the peace and quiet. I don't have to try hard to imagine the outrage repeat visitors would feel if just the idea of hunting were introduced. To the possibility of hunting moose, I would say never in a million years. That is if Lake Superior hasn't evaporated by then.
