The saddest pictures I have ever taken on the island. We spent some time with Rolf and Candy and they had just retrieved "Pip"

On a positive note, it was a GREAT 2+ hours of conversation about the island, life, people and the planet in general. Plus, homemade brownies :D

Time to resurrect this thread.

Here's one taken last week on Porter Island, located in the far NE part of Tobin Harbor.

Here's another taken at Rolf Peterson's place located on Moskey Basin. Image speaks for itself.

Thanks treePlanter! When I have time, I'm going to set up the "random image" thing at the top of the page again, so keep the photos coming!

Will do. I have pics taken over the past 20+ years (on film) and will post some of these as I scan them.

Another from our recent trip (late August). We heard there was a big, bull moose on Gale Island, which is a small island located in Tobin Harbor. We paddled my two-person kayak to the island and found this handsome fellow chomping down on alder. He graciously posed for us. My ladyfriend was in front with her cellphone, I was in back, ready to backpaddle, if necessary. Not needed though, he showed little interest in us.

Otter Lake, a few miles west of McCargoe Cove. This lake just appears out of nowhere, when you hike the Minong Ridge west out of McCargoe.

Stormy day. The boat did not come to get us as scheduled.

The "America." I took this about twenty years back while in my kayak. A serendipity photo. I knew I was above the "America" but couldn't clearly see the wreck due the the glare off the water. I stuck my Nikonos under water, pointed it where I though the wreck was, and took this picture.

Since we're in the fall/winter IR doldrums, a pic to get us ready for next season.

I'm not really sure where this is. Someplace in the northeast part of the island.

Thoughts of Thanksgiving and sharing of a meal made be think of this time from the past summer. (I'll explain in a pending trip report)
Perhaps more rare than a wolf sighting, here is the Sea Hunter III and Voyageur II docked along side each other... In Rock Harbor.
