Freeze-dried foods at Windigo and Rock Harbor stores?
I plan on doing the Minong Trail from Rock Harbor to Windigo, and then take the ferry back to Rock Harbor.
I understand there are grocery stores (and restaurants) at each end of the island. At this point of this year - I plan on hiking through there at the end of August - are the grocery stores well-stocked? I'd like to carry the necessary foods and then re-stock at the end of the trip to lighten my pack. If they are well-stocked, do they carry the typical Mountain House items? (I'm a huge fan of the Chili and the Breakfast Skillets!!)
I tried to get in touch with them but to no avail.
Any thoughts would be appreciated!!

No restaurant in Windigo.
There is a Youtube video that shows the entire inventory of the Windigo store. It it from a couple of years ago, so the inventory could be different today. The video does a good job of illustrating what types of supplies the store carries (including fuel). Here is the link:

But the store will make sandwiches and serve soft drinks (and sometimes ice cream) which you can eat on the porch.

There is no longer a grill at Windigo . Packaged sandwiches and frozen pizza in the microwave only, assuming they haven't run out.DonNewcomb wrote: ↑Thu Aug 10, 2017 8:32 am But the store will make sandwiches and serve soft drinks (and sometimes ice cream) which you can eat on the porch.

Alas, during the week of labor day in 2014, they were out of ice cream. Sadness hung thick and dank in the air.Ingo wrote: ↑Fri Aug 11, 2017 8:45 amYup! My understanding is that they get one supply of frozen foods each year and aim to sell out before they close down for the winter.

They do resupply occasionally during the summer. But they do try to sell out before the end of the season. And occasionally run out between boats. At Rock Harbor we used to get supplies on the Ranger every 2 weeks--don't know what the frequency is these days. Windigo is less frequent, presumably because it costs more: supplies come on the Ranger, then on the Voyageur from RH to Windigo.DonNewcomb wrote: ↑Mon Aug 14, 2017 7:49 amMy understanding is that they get one supply of frozen foods each year and aim to sell out before they close down for the winter.
