Gunnison River Gorge
Went rafting in the Gunnison Gorge in western Colorado last week, just downstream of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison Nat'l Park. Beautiful and remote--highly recommended if you get the chance. Class III-IV rapids, dam controlled so navigable all summer, although the water was low and rapids more technical. Known for it's trout fishing, we were in a minority in that we didn't, but saw plenty of fish as we floated by. We were lucky enough to end up with a private trip with just my wife and I and the guide, which made it even more special. Access is limited for commercial groups, so you won't see many other people. And if you're up to it, there's a couple trails you can hike in and camp--although I'm probably not up to hiking out anymore
