Snowy Owl

Post by johnhens »

We went out today to find a Snowy Owl that had ventured South to Northern IL. This was the first Snowy Owl I have seen in the wild.

He's beautiful! I saw one sitting on the stop sign as I was driving out of work about 3 weeks ago, but just barely caught it in the corner of my eye...you got a picture!

Wow, very nice John! We have Barred Owls in the woods around our house and I occasionally catch a glimpse of one flying thru the trees. Rarely see them perched, since the woods are pretty thick. Hear them often, though. Amazing creatures!

Awesome photo John. Beautiful bird. It's even cooler because you were actually looking for one. That's what I call a successful hunt.

Did you eat it?

Nice photo. I think those are beautiful birds, but I've only seen them in pictures and not in the wild.

Pullin' a "Hens" - http://www.startribune.com/local/west/37801954.html

Those in the Twin Cities area, if you haven't seen a Snowy Owl, look no further than the local international airport. (They do note, due to the recent "bird terrorist" collision in NY, that hitting one with a jet is highly unlikely)
