If we could only travel like a wolf. I've wondered how much the very cold affects wolves. I once heard John Vucetich make the statement that a healthy moose doesn't really "feel" the cold until about -20 Deg F

This is a wolf after my own heart---a natural at social distancing! (A notion that turns out to be very hard to explain to domesticated canines.)

It was truly incredible to see the distances this wolf covered over the past few years both on and off island. I am curious to see how the pack dynamics will develop over the next few years. I am not sure if this article has been posted but they had a September update detailing that the current wolves present have not formed any packs yet and are still hunting in pairs or smaller groups. Hopefully they will reform packs soon. With any luck, it will result in a balanced food web for the whole island and help curb the moose die offs due to starvation.

I could say lots of serious things, but... every time I read the wolf's ID number, W003F, I just read it as "WOOF!"
