Nope. It's quite a tangled maze of swamps and underbrush through there -- I tried to bushwhack just a few miles around the end of the basin and had to turn back.

Edit: Here's the full story (with some photos). Starts about halfway down the page: https://blog.dcclark.net/2019/06/isle-r ... rm-to.html

I agree with dcclark. Much of the southern shore of Moskey Basin (past the marshy portion) is a very thick boreal forest with a lot of scraggly Balsam Fir. It would very hard going on a bushwack. Here's a picture of the trail from the lighthouse to the Bangsund Cabin which is quite close to the lighthouse.

The shoreline trail that runs from Rolf Peterson's cabin to the lighthouse goes through the thickest stand of sapling balsam fir and spruce I've ever seen. "Doghair" in every sense of the word. Thankfully, the trail has been cleared. I'd hate to walk through that mess.

I was on that trail early one year. We couldn't make it through the blow down from the winter. We had to go back and get tools to clear the path. It was only a few trees, but it's so thick there is no way around them.

That is, however, a very pleasant day trip in a kayak.....

Another access method is the M.V. Sandy tour boat from Rock Harbor lodge, once it's back in operation in 2022. They will also drop you off at Daisy Farm on their way back.

That's how I came in, but we were walking with the Edison fishery folks for dinner Rolf and Candy.
