West Chickenbone to Minong Mine

Post by MTH22 »

Wondering how long it would take to hike from WCB to Minong Mine. I am looking at doing a day hike from WCB and was looking at doing the loop around the lake from WCB to MM to ECB and back to the campground at WCB. If that is too far I would just go from WCB to the mine and back. Thanks for any info!!

That would be a very nice day hike. Two bits of advice:

1. Give yourself some time to explore and enjoy the mine site. There's lots to see beyond the first big hole in the ground.

2. Go just a little farther west on the Minong beyond the mine turnoff. Shortly the trail will climb a big uphill. Look for an opportunity to follow a volunteer trail on the right (towards the cliff). You will find a spectacular overview of the north side of the island.
