So this is what I'm tentatively thinking we might do. Any input on how difficult or easy this is would be much appreciated. I am particularly interested in what the trail is like between Lake Richie and Chippewa and then Chippewa to Moskey. Thanks all!

The trail between Richie and Chippewa is easy on the feet; for the most part you're walking in the trees and the ground is firm. Some up and downs, but not bad for Isle Royale standards. The trail isn't heavily travelled, per se, so will be more grown than others. I hiked it in under two hours this June. A few times you hit some rocky areas, but those are pretty easy, too...
Chippewa to Moskey is primarily BACK to Richie (the trail intersection is fairly close to the Richie camp) and then a couple miles to Moskey. That one took 50 minutes according to my notes. It's a little more rocky and bumpy on the feet. Plenty of things to stumble on. I'd say both trails are easier than the Rock Harbor trail you'll be on the rest of the way.
