Daisy Farm

Any idea if it will still be closed? If it will be closed (May 23/25) can I still hike through it?

It was closed last year in the fall because a wolf had taken to feeding on apples there.
I would think you should have no problems in the spring.

Not sure if others have more recent information but I heard from a ranger yesterday that Daisy Farm may be closed again this year because a wolf was enjoying the apples again. We stayed there earlier in the week and only one shelter (21?) was closed but make sure your travel plans are flexible.

Hopefully someone will have more updated information.

I would surely have to change my plans if that is the case... anyone who gets back before I go on the 18th please update.

I'm guessing I can call the Ranger Station to check on this?!

I helped Robbie Bell, the ranger at Daisy Farm, pick up the apples at shelter #11. This is now one of his daily assignemnts, designed to discourage the wolves.

I thought we were in shelter #13 on the night of Sept. 3rd. Hiked into R.H. on the 4th. #13 is set back about 50' into the trees but has a small view of the lake.

I was at Daisy Farm on June 26th going pee at 2:30 in the am when a very wolf like creature ran right past me! Very fast very powerful. It was dark but I describe it as gray, about the size of a collie. It was my first time on the island and I just knew something amazing was going to happen!
I was in shelter #10.
