50 lb Pack Limit
So I'm taking the float plane into Rock Harbor, but I see there is a 50 lb limit on the pack weight. That is an issue for me as I was planning on bringing in approximately 50 lbs of leininkugels, in addition to my hiking gear. Does anyone know if the Rock Harbor lodge stocks leininkugels?

Do you mean "Leinenkugel's". You could drink it all before getting on the plane, then the weight wouldn't count.

You can call the lodge and find out.islehiker1234 wrote:So I'm taking the float plane into Rock Harbor, but I see there is a 50 lb limit on the pack weight. I like Bells "Two Hearted Ale" mmmm good. Leinie's is always good too though. I go to their annual summer gathering every June in Wisconsin. Good times.

Re: 50 lb Pack Limit
I read in some info obtained about the plane that the limit was 40lbs and in other info it was 50. Did you take the plane and what did they
say was the limit?

The plane limit per person may vary depending on how many people in the party and how big they are. I have flown twice and have never had an issue but both times I was the only passenger he was taking.

I don't know of there current stocks, but back in fall of 2007 my brother and I nearly wiped out the lodges supply of Leinenkugels Summer Shandy's after a 7 day canoe trip of the interior.

Because it was lighter than the Leinenkugel's or because the pilot let your weight slide in trade?mihiker wrote:We solved the weight problem with a fifth of rum.

The lightest weight booze is Everclear. Of course, if you don't want to die you have to cut it quite a bit. 10:1 with water and some Crystal Lite works really well. Not like drinking a good single-malt Scotch or my favorite: Tullamore Dew. But if weight and a buzz are the only objects....

Nope. Can't stomach the everclear. I'll have to stick with the rum.

Re: 50 lb Pack Limit
This is an old thread, but it's still funny. 50# of Leinenkugels... LOL
Actually, even if the stuff was available at Rock Harbor, with the added taxes, it would be about $250 a twelve pack.

Hey, let's not exaggerate - I bet it would be under $100.
