After you get your permit at the visitor center you can head up to your left after the restrooms. The Rock Harbor shelters are up that way. There is a water faucet there that you can use.

Don't know what others think, but I can't drink that water from their treated source. Tastes like total chemical to me. I'd rather take enough over and then filter from Superior.

Re: Water at Rock Harbor
I got water from their faucet before and it didn't taste bad to me. But, maybe something in the way the treat the water has changed since then.
Re: Water at Rock Harbor
I think they chlorinate, but the taste may depend what faucet you use as well. If I remember correctly the campsite faucets are connected with black plastic tubing whereas the faucets in the bathrooms and just outside the bathrooms are probably connected via metal pipe.

With a water treatment plant as small as the NPS's is, I'm sure it is difficult to keep the chemical levels as stable as do larger facilities. Plus they probably have the settings set a bit on the higher side so the variations err on the side of safety.
