Winter camping is almost always quite invigorating. In my youth I used to snow shoe/ski and winter camp in the Keweenaw with a roommate. I really enjoyed reading the pros and cons list from your link (Why go winter camping?)

The one thing that always struck me about each trip was the amount of time spent just trying to stay alive.

I suggest a book by Calvin Rustrum called “Paradise Below Zero”. He used to live for periods of time with the Cree Indians of Northern Canada. I got my autographed copy in Grand Portage.
