Going in August

Post by Jackfish »

My wife and I have been looking at our schedules and have decided that our trip this summer will have to be in August - August 13th-20th, specifically. (We briefly considered the 3rd week of September but decided against it, mainly due to the weather.)

Is that week of August still considered the "busy time" or will the crowds be starting to taper off a bit by then?

Crowds will have started to taper off as kids have either gone back to or are getting ready to go back to school.
Lots of berries still, and nice weather.

Thanks John! That was the answer I was hoping for. Looks like our plans are starting to come together.

Where are you going to start your trip? Windigo, McCargoe or Rock Harbor? The first two areas should normally be less visited then those areas closer to Rock Harbor. Lane Cove seems less visited then other campgrounds in the east end.

Our likely itinerary is posted in the "Trails and Campsites" section. http://isleroyaleforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1376

We're planning to start at Windigo, do the Feldtmann trail, on to McCargo, then finishing the hike at RH.
