ABC's of CPR changes

Post by johnhens »

The ABC's of CPR have changed to CAB's. Health officials decided returning circulation to organs ect is more critical than the first few breaths taught previously. I re-certified a few months ago and learned to use an AED (which is pretty simple as the device gives you voice commands to follow in its use).

From the article: "The key point is that anyone can do CPR. If you aren't trained or you don't feel comfortable, you don't have to ventilate. Just call for help, put your hands on the victim's sternum, push hard and push fast and don't stop,"

Last CPR class I had the instructor's favorite line was "Dead is dead," in response to questions about doing it wrong, cracking ribs, separated sternum, etc.
