George Hite Has Passed Away

George Hite, age 80 of Eagle Harbor, passed away unexpectedly yesterday November 1, 2011 at home.

He was a long time sailor of Lake Superior and Isle Royale in The Peregrine. Here is a map of his 2011 summer cruise:

Nice, I was with George for the 2011 summer and drew the map. We spent about two weeks total on the Island this year.
Chippewa & Passage are two of his favorites, his first trip to the Island at age 8 was aboard the Awaneesha with Holger Johnson. Amazingly there were after all those years visiting the island there was still places he had not stopped, he visited Rolf's boneyard for the first time this summer. I will never think of Isle Royale without thinking of him.
