Re: Trail Suggestions and Markings?
As drobarge said, the trails are well marked. For a general description of trail markings and types, go to Isle Royale Info link below, click on "Overview" and scroll down to trails.
As far as suggestions from Rock Harbor, you need to provide more details in terms of days, experience, miles per day, etc. The best bet is to search this forum as there is a wealth of knowledge and experience here.
Hope your trip works out!

Re: Trail Suggestions and Markings?
Although sometimes you have punk teenagers that knock the cairns down just to make it difficult for the other people that follow in foot after them. After I did the Minong last year, I was in the bathroom at Windigo when I heard two young men talking and laughing about how they wondered if anyone would get lost and still be looking to get back to Windigo during the weee hours of the night due to their inconsiderate actions of kicking cairns down. I will admitt, I was pretty anger when I overheard this, but calmed myself down before I did anything rash. I thought about reporting them, but what good would that have done? They either would not fess up to it when questioned, and even if they did, would the Rangers have any power to do anything about it. I thought about telling them that I was dissappointed in their actions, because I would have expected more out of a couple of eighteen year olds. But in the end, I just left well enough alone and shrugged things off with a "Ehh why do some kids have to be so immature and unrespectful of others at times." On a different note, check out this picture...this emphasizes everything to which I just spoke of ha ha ha
