Hey guys,
Didn't see this posted anywhere, but there's a four-page article on the wolves of Isle Royale in September 2012's "Backpacker" magainze. It starts on page 75, and is titled "Going, Going...Gone?" by Gustave Axelson. It's got some great pictures, too.
I haven't been able to find the text from the article online, but if someone does, please share.
UPDATE: Just finished reading the article. Great detail about the beauty of the island, combined with some excellent quick-to-the-point stats about the declining wolf & moose population. Also, the author not only got to hear the wolves, but even seen one at Feldtmann!
