Today, March 3rd is Isle Royale National Park's birthday.
Or I guess more precisely the date it was conceived. On March 3, 1931 President Herbert Hoover signed into law the Congressional approval to establish Isle Royale as a national park. It wasn't until a little more than 9 years later that it was truly "born" or established after the land had finally been acquired.
