Flying into Winidigo 8/4 at 9 am. Fly out of Rock Harbor 8/8 at noon. Here is the tentative itinerary, the first day is the only thing that worries me.
Day 1 8/4
Windigo Visitor Center to Feldtmann Lake Campground - 8.5 miles
Feldtmann Lake Campground to Siskiwit Bay - 10.3 miles
Day2 8/5
Siskiwit Bay to Island Mine – 4.3 miles
Island Mine to Hachet Lake – 12.8 miles
Day 3 8/6
Hatchet Lake to Chickenbone East – 9.3 miles
Chickenbone East to Daisy Farms – 6.1 miles
Day 4 8/7
Daisy Farms to Lane Cove – 7.2 miles
Lane Cover to Lookout Louise 4.8 miles
Day 5 – only a few hours 8/8 morning
Lookout Louise to Rock Harbor – 3 miles
In case we run out of time on day 4
Daisy Farms to Rock Harbor – 7.1 miles
Is the Feldtmann Lake loop worth it, or should we just go straight from Windigo to Island Mine? Any other route you would suggestion?
Thanks
david

Feldtmann loop is still on my to do list, but I hear good things about it...but 18 mile day would be a killer for me (15 miles on the Greenstone was tough enough for me). Also on day 4 it appears you plan to camp (?) at Lookout Louise... there isn't a campground there. I won't discount the feltman lake loop, but would suggest looking at doing the Minong trail as another option. Your plans seem to have big mile days which can be done as long as you're experienced and conditioned for them.

The Feldtmann loop is a wonderful hike, but on your first day with a fully loaded pack your plan makes for long day. Note that from Feldtmann Lake to the top of the ridge the trail is uphill, not a flat walk. You also have to carry all the water you need for that 10 mile stretch.
