Early Season Access to Cooking Fuel

Post by HikerGal »

I am planning a trip to IR for the end of May, perhaps the week of the 20th. I am planning on going on the seaplane and starting my adventure at Windigo. I know I cannot take fuel on the seaplane but the store won't be open yet. Anyone have any ideas on how I can get fuel for my Jetboil? I really hate to think of cold food for my adventure and although I have access to a Biolite campstove I am not sure I want to carry the added weight. Thanks!

Thanks for finding the answer to my question and attaching the link. I will contact the seaplane people and see if I can have fuel pre-positioned also. That will solve my problem and make my adventure much more enjoyable!

I am scheduled on the first flight of the season and was recently contacted by Isle Royale seaplanes they are prepositioning fuel on the island just let them know how many containers you need $10. each. Great idea as it eliminates the uncertainty of having fuel for a early season visit by seaplane.
