Apparently folks swimming at Todd Harbor are contracting Swimmers Itch. Keep this in mind if you plan on swimming in Superior. If you have contacted it on IR, consider documenting here:

Interesting that the last post here about swimmer's itch (2015) was also at Todd Harbor.

Excellent article in the Grand Traverse (MI) Journal about Mergansers and the itch.

I wonder the potentially worse effects to a person with a depressed immune system. From Inca's article wrote:We humans should be bystanders to this unwholesome series of events, but for one thing: the cercariae mistake us for ducks. Only after entering the outermost layer of skin do they realize their awful mistake, but it is too late for them: our body’s immune system reacts to kill them off, that response leading to an angry, itching bump, swimmer’s itch.

My crew of 4 just swam there on or about August 6th. No issues, but I'm itching to go back before the end of the season.
