Success fishing?

Planning a trip for June 2020. Never been before. We were hoping to supplement our meals with some fish as we hike the GRT from Windigo to Rock Harbor. I’ve read not to expect much from Desor or Hatchet. How about Chickenbone or Daisy Farm? Pretty good chances of landing a fish or two? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Chickenbone is good for pike and folks have caught walleye there. Maybe perch. I know a few folks have caught fish off the dock at Daisy. Remember you need a MI license to fish Superior.

I know it's not on your list but I think the most reliable source of Northern Pike is Lake Ritchie.

Lake Ritchie is on a southern route from West Chickenbone to Daisy Farm. You would get off the Greenstone Ridge Trail and come into DF via Lake Ritchie and Moskey Basin. I like this route and I don’t even fish...... when you get your maps, you can check it out. Also, the Greenstone Ridge Trail crosses a portage trail between W. Chic. lake and Lake Livermore. Take the portage trail to Lake Livermore and try for northern s there!

Only sure chance of catching fish is Lake Ritchie. So, to get one or two meals from fish, you will need fishing gear, a frying pan, oil, etc. Many bring gear and never catch a fish. But, you won't be saving weight....

I swiped this from the NPS site a few years ago. I would believe it's still mostly valid. It's every lake on the island with the fish that are known to be in them.
