Amygdaloid Island

Post by dsingley »

Is there a trail system on Amygdaloid? Have that there are a couple of very short formal trails - to the arch and to the lake, but also read that there is an unofficial trail or trails to a high point on Amygdaloid and another unofficial trail along one of the shore lines. If such unofficial trail(s) exist, about how long are they? TIA.

I haven't been to Amygdaloid Island since 1995. Then, and now, there is no formal trail system on the island, but you can bushwack. There is a prominent ridge on the island, that is very obvious on an aerial photo, that you can use for hiking. It's slow going, and you need to good footwear, but it can be done. Can't comment on a trail along the lakeshore. I don't recall seeing one back in '95.

There are some trails, that run along the obvious ridge, that are visible in Google Maps satellite imagery. They do not appear on any of the published maps either paper or digital that I have seen.
