Don of the Queen, not Captain Don who owns the Voyageur, though I would pay to hear him singing to moose

I wasn't sure if it (the boat name) were a type in the article, but then again I'm still new the "IR scene"... So the Voyaguer and the Queen both have captains named Don then...

Man, that author has it nailed. It made me quite sad I wasn't on my way to IR right now. And that's a helluva picture gallery attached to the article...usually it's only 3 or 4 trailer images, but 38? Wow, a great article for sure.

P.S., Seconding our Capt Don for singing to a moose. That would be hilarious to see.

Capt Mike runs the Voyageur. Capt Don is his boss, I believe. And then Capt Don of the Queen.

It's been a busy summer and I haven't had much time to keep up on the forum postings. Just got around to reading this thread and noticed that all the article links listed above are dead. I've noticed with other articles that the Free Press doesn't keep articles around very long. Argh!

I'm sorry you missed the story. I have the actual newspaper article itself, and if I had a scanner big enough I'd do it in a minute. Brian, I cannot tell you how much you website has helped and inspired me for my upcoming (1st) trip to Isle Royale.

The photo's are still there...

I think that this might be a reprint in another paper. If I remember the original story, it has been hacked up by the editors quite a bit.

Welcome to the forums Mike! Funny for me to say having never been to IR, but nonetheless I’ll be there in less than 3 weeks!

Thanks for digging up the article, it looks to be about the same ;)

I predict that your first time will NOT be your last time - the Island is like that.
