TR:6/16-6/23 2018 [Windigo-Isle mine-Todd Harb-Mcargo-Threemile-Rock Harbor]

Got back from our trip on June 24th. Overall it was GREAT! 3 people, 1 had been there in 2001, first time for me and the other person. Overall the trip was great, but I didn’t bring enough warm clothes for night time. My 40 degree bag was not enough to keep me comfortable sleeping, but If that is a ...

Re: 10 days / 9 nights route considerations

I just got back on the 23rd from our trip. Based on what it looks like you are doing you won't be disappointed with Todd Harbor. We stayed at Island mine, TH, McCargoe, Threemile. Todd Harbor was our favorite place! there is only one shelter which we didn't get, but there is a great campsite ...

We're leaving tomorrow!

Current plan is pretty much the one listed above. Wish us luck!

If anyone else is there and in those areas and sees three guys pushing along say hi.

Re: First time back country camper. What to bring to Isle Royale?

Ii you do ditch the MRE's(which are heavy), I recently got a big pack of Mountain house from Costco.com for good pricing. $65 for 13 packages. Some of which could be split into multiple meals depending on how much you want to eat. https://www.costco.com/Mountain-House-Premium-Meal-Assortment%2c-32 ...

Re: Splitting Freeze Dried food(Mountain House)

"mixed the contents well" Pay attention to Johnhens' advice on this. Many years ago, we split Mountain House beef stew without realizing that the fine particles settle to the bottom. Not good. The first meals were soup and the next ones paste! I knew I had to mix them, but with these suggestions i ...

Splitting Freeze Dried food(Mountain House)

Getting ready for my trip in June. Somke of the food will be Mountain House. I got this pack from Costco.com: https://www.costco.com/Mountain-House-Premium-Meal-Assortment%2C-32-Servings-.product.100371489.html Some of the packs are going to be too large for me for one serving. I want to split them ...

Re: How much fuel to bring?

10-12 meals per person? Wow that's a lot of boiling!! I would say 2 of the 8oz canisters (1 for each stove), should do it. The jetboil is quick and the MSR whatever it is will be too. Here is a good article for you: https://thesummitregister.com/stoves-101-how-much-fuel-should-i-carry/ We'll be ...

Re: How much fuel to bring?

It looks like the original MSR article is gone. Any chance anyone saved it? I'm trying to figure out how much fuel i'll need for a trip in June. Thanks! Check the MSR website they still have articles up. I can try to give you a best guess. How many days are you going for? How many people? And which ...

Voyager II (Rock Harbor to Windigo)

Should I/Can I get reservations for the Voyager II ahead of time If we plan to travel from Rock Harbor to Windigo in June 17th? Is this a popular trip where it could fill up?

Also, has anyone done this? Anything to expect or plan for?

Thanks!

Two that cannot mate. They are related and had offspring that died due to inbreeding.
