Re: Test this out: Isle Royale Trip Calendar
Hmm.
I entered my info, clicked save, but didn't see the trip on the calendar.
What am I missing?
Duh! I missed the part about Admin Approval.
Too much of a hurry to try the new toy.

Re: In need of some suggestions for an Isle Royale Trip rout
Hi Aaron, Welcome! Not much activity on the forums lately. I am not a kayak-er so I have no suggestions for routes. There are many discussions in Canoeing, Kayaking & Fishing and in Trip Reports if you look back over the last two seasons. It does look like many travel from Chippewa Harbor to ...

Wonderful report.
Thanks for posting so much detail.
That certainly is a great way to visit the island.

Re: USNPS Ranger III Photo's
That Ranger is some ship. I have only seen it when passing through Houghton.
The sailing schedule was always too restrictive for my needs, so I have only sailed on the Queen.
Thanks

Re: Shelter locations - table?
I agree that having a table inside is handy, especially in a long term rain situation.
It does bother me however that those whom moved the table in, did not move it back out when they left. Those suckers are heavy.

Re: trekking poles
I have been using my "stiks" for many years.
They are constantly in my hands on Isle Royale and have prevented many falls.
Even in SE Michigan, I carry at least one with me just in case.

Re: Favorite lightweight trail meals
We have been using the individual chicken/tuna/salmon packages for some time.
Not as light as dehydrated, but easy to obtain and more palatable then the re-hydrated proteins.
(I have not invested in a dehydrator)
Of course my favorite is the Spam singles.
